yellow...

...columbine

not blue

although the lovely - lavender blue columbine - is colorado’s state flower - not this lovely yellow - but while we’re on the subject - of columbine flowers - in general, here - are some fun facts

-it was elected by school children in 1891
-it’s protected by state law, so no picking it
-it makes for great food for both butterflies & hummingbirds
-it was named after eagles & doves; columbine comes from the latin word for dove due to the resemblance of the inverted flower to five doves clustered together
-it’s said native americans of this region used the columbine as an herbal remedy

always interesting to me - to see how flowers can be - integrated into our - lives with fun facts - they help to make it...

a

happy day.....
