The Lozarithm Lens

Melksham (Friday 11th June 2021)

Since the incident with the lens in my glasses over three weeks ago I have been rather struggling with my least-worst back-up glasses -  prescription reading glasses from several years back that tuned out not to meet my current optical needs. Thankfully I got a call to say the replacement glasses were ready, and an appointment was made for me to collect them in Chippenham.

With eyesight fully restored and having concluded all my business in Chippenham, I drove on to Melksham to collect a camera bag whose shoulder strap had been re-stitched, did a weekly shop at Waitrose and strolled up to the boathouse by the River Avon for a picnic lunch. I had this in the company of mallards, swans and two cygnets. The swan family had been up close to the bench where I sat initially but by now had gone off for a cooling swim and disappeared up a little stream to their former nest. A quarter of an hour later they returned (see Extra) and remained in my presence for the rest of my stay there.

I decided to return via Caen Hill and parked off Marsh Lane at the entrance to the Diamond Jubilee Woods. I walked through the woods to the flight of locks (second Extra) and then kept an eye out for the second swan family there as I walked slowly down to the road bridge, taking many nature pictures, but didn't see them or any herons, otters, kingfishers or wildebeasts.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Juana Molina - El Desconfiado (2000)
I didn't discover Juana Molina's album Segundo until 2008 but it has been a firm favourite, along with other of her albums, ever since. A new re-mastered edition was recently released and this track was played by Verity Sharp on Radio Three's Late Junction on this evening.
