Would Franks have not made 'The Americans'?

Its been a long day teaching photography to some amazing students today. Then this evening I polished off an amazing online course I've been studying. Towards the end the presenter came out with this amazing thought......."if Franks had waited for social media LIKES, he probably would never have made The Americans'.

I like that thought
