Life in Newburgh on Ythan

By Talpa

Happiness is a good scratch.

We have  a very large haul-out of grey seals and a much smaller number of common seals at the mouth of our local river the Ythan.

The grey seals give birth in October and the common seals in June.

Today this young newly weaned common seal was lazing on the beach and having a good scratch as it begins to moult out of its white juvenile fur.
