Kestrel

I didn't plan to do another bird blip today, but this was too good an opportunity to miss. Son#2 loves to visit the beach while he's staying with us, so we took the Metro to Tynemouth this afternoon and walked along the coast to Whitley Bay, almost to St Mary's Island before doubling back to the Metro station at Monkseaton for the train home.

Very soon after we arrived at the coast at Tynemouth we spotted this kestrel hovering. As usual I had the wrong lens on but for once it was very kind, in that it waited while I switched to my longest telephoto lens: I was able to grab a few shots before it flew away. This photo isn't cropped at all - such a lucky moment! A blue sky would have been nice but you can't have everything :-))
