Ready to GO...

...across Lake Michigan to Muskegon. The Lake Express is a high speed, 300 passenger (plus holds 46 cars &12 motorcycles) catamaran that can cross from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Muskegon, Michigan in 2 1/2 hours. Prior to the Lake Express, if one wanted to cross Lake Michigan by boat, the only other choice (short of owning your own vessel) was the SS Badger, a ferry that goes from Manitowoc, Wisconsin to Ludington, Michigan.....in 6 hours, so the Lake Express shaved 3 1/2 hours off the travel time.
Here's an interesting & little known fact: The world's largest collection of 1929 & 1930 Nash Motors cars rest on the bottom of Lake Michigan. There are 268 of them, lashed together in rows and crumpled in a heap next to the wreck of the SS Senator, a Great Lakes Steamship that was carrying the cars to Detroit when it sank in 450 feet of water, about 15 miles East of Port Washington, Wisconsin. The Senator sank in the last days of the Roaring 20's, and now it, along with the cars, join all the other ships, airplanes, submarines, train cars & other vehicles that populate the bottom of Lake Michigan. Thanks to random_angel for hosting MonoMonday today, and hope you all have a great start to the week. :)
