Lucky charm

I am starting to think that m’boy might be something of a lucky charm.

For each of the last three football matches he’s watched with me (well, the first half of them) he has seen his team score the winning goal. I think I may make some alternative arrangements with his mother next week, so he can be by my side for half of England’s next match.

It has been another crazy day at work and sorting the wee ones out and it was only just after 8pm that I plonked my butt down for a rest. The pressure at work is being felt right across the business, but I was touched today by a colleague (not like that) who called to thank me for hearing her out last week when she was in a bit of a slump.

I had completely forgotten that conversation until she reminded me, but I guess it’s nice to know that someone is listening to you sometimes, isn’t it? For some reason, I don’t get a lot of that in this house…..

Following the school pickup, I still had a little more work to do, but I became aware of Matty talking to herself and giggling away in the yarden. Poking my head above the parapet of screens, I was greeted by the sight of her making potions in the plastic pots and tins that she’d salvaged from the recycling bag. Naturally, it was only a matter of time before the concoction ended up all over her, and sure enough there was a gasp and volley of laughter before she came in and requested a towel.
