Studley Grange (Thursday 1st July 2021)

I took myself off to Wootton Bassett this afternoon for a towpath walk and to check on the swan family that live on the Wilts and Berks there. I parked at Templars Firs and walked up to the second footbridge. I called to a jogger going in the opposite direction if he'd seen any swans and as he whooshed past he said there was one at the other end and told me there was a heron nearby. Indeed there was, but like all herons it played tag, hiding below reed level and flying urgently away to avoid the camera. The best I could do is in Extras.
To get to the other end I had to drive a couple of miles to park on the bridge beside Studley Grange, and set off West, which was unfortunate because the swan, on its own, was on another stretch, to the East. After a lot of walking I did catch up with it, sharing company with some ducks. I got some shots of the swan but have chosen this shot, where it is in the background.
