Front Yard (Sunday 11th July 2021)

The newest flowering in the Front Yard has been gradually revealing itself over the last few days. It's been a quiet day of odd jobs, problem solving, cooking and tidying, and now it's raining.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
The Shadows ‎– Stars Fell On Stockton (recorded 19 December 1961, EMI Studios, Abbey Road)
This was the B-side of Wonderful Land so I have known it for most of my life. It was played this morning on Cerys' Radio 6 show. The Shadows' jokey title refers to the old Jimmy Dorsey hit Stars Fell On Alabama, but of course it all comes around as there is a new film of that name coming out now. Most of the Shadows come from the area around Newcastle and Stockton-on-Tees, so this is a local reference. Guitarist Hank Marvin co-wrote the tune, complete with whistling, after their bass player Jet Harris pranged his car following a Shadows gig in Stockton.
