Finally!

Today was a banner day -- after seven months of waiting, we finally had our kitchen countertops installed at Periwinkle Cottage this morning!  All that's left to do is have the plumber/gas guru hook up the sink/faucet, dishwasher, and gas cooktop, and we will have a fully functioning kitchen.  Oh, and tile (see Extra) still needs to be installed on the walls behind the cooktop and the microwave (not visible in this shot).

Unfortunately my news panned out to be not much after all.  We made a (substantial) offer on another possible rental house in Boothbay that we looked at and liked on Saturday.  We were told the owners would decide which offer to accept on Monday afternoon.  As our bid was way over their asking price, we felt fairly confident we might be successful, but we were told that they went with another buyer, because they (the other buyers) did not want to bother with any sort of house inspections (risky, if you ask me!), and they were willing to close quickly.  So that's that!
