Bus Pass Walk

2 buses to the start of our walk today - walk led by Bus Pass Walker K, and a very nice walk it was too.  A dull cloudy day,  but still warm.  We walked along the canal and crossed the bridge at the Marquis of Granby pub (a haunt of my pre-marriage days!).  Along Hospital Road to the gateway of the old Isolation Hospital.  Looks rather creepy now abandoned, but houses have been built in the grounds and nearby, however a footpath above still remains.  We came out at the bottom end of Morton and walked back down the hill to the canal.  From there we continued along the sections until we reached 5 Rise Locks where refreshments were taken.  We felt the odd spot of rain, but made it to the bus and to home before any rain started.  Later in the afternoon there was a cracking thu - glad I wasn’t out in that!  Seen today - lots of Berberis berries, Lavatera, huge rose bushes, wildflowers, apple trees, pear trees, canal boats, geese, ducks, ducklings, swans, cygnets, old diesel pump, famous locks, so sorry it had to be a collage to show a few of them!  Cracking thunderstorm late afternoon - glad we weren’t out walking in that!
