Life through the lens...

Nice combination.

This year the clematis has grown through the adjoining hydrangea. Not a combination I had planned but as there aren’t many flowers on the hydrangea this year it looks very pretty.

Another dull day. Not that warm and Mr C is thinking of lighting the fire for the first time this evening!

Called to see our friend J. E. this morning to wish him Happy Birthday.
Unfortunately his wife doesn’t improve, although she does know who we are.
At least now he is getting a carers allowance which has been backdated.
Nice to see his sister-in -law and husband, who had also called to wish him Happy Birthday. Haven’t seen them for many years so we had a good catchup. They are hoping to be able to visit their holiday apartment in Spain soon as it is nearly two years since they were there last.

I managed to pick some blackberries yesterday and so we are looking forward to our first blackberry and apple pie of the season.
Unfortunately the old railway embankment, where I used to pick them, has been flattened by the farmer to increase the size of his field.
Also the side of another path had been hacked back. So my local blackberry plots are diminishing.
I’ve also had to buy some cooking apples as our friend’s tree hasn’t any on this year. They think the blossom may have been damaged by a late frost.

The weather forecast doesn’t sound too bad for the weekend. Even mentioning that it will be warmer than any time in August.
Now that would be nice, wouldn’t it!
