Canal Day 3: Little Owl

We had a very warm day on the canal today, so lovely for cruising along.

Kat steered us through the Harecastle tunnel, 2,528 metres long and she never bumped the boat at all!

When we moored in the evening, The Man noticed a large triangular structure in a tree and was wondering what it was when Greig was wondering what the magpies were making a fuss about. It was then that he saw the little owl perched amongst the rubble.

Clearly the farmer's work and thoughtfulness of putting up an owl nest box had been rewarded and we were thankful that we saw it.

It's the first wild little owl I've seen in my 12 years of blipping so I was pleased it sat still for a long time in the sun.
