Sunset Portrait

I seldom use flash, partly because I don't like the harsh light it produces, but mainly because I never seem to have mastered it.  However I know that flash used creatively can be very effective.  I have promised myself that I will learn to use flash properly, so tonight I experimented with a mixture of natural evening light and a remote flash gun.  It took me several attempts to get a reasonable result (partly not understanding how the technology worked, and partly just using the wrong settings).  Fortunately my lovely model (er, oh, me) was very patient!

It is a pity I looked so miserable.
