Northern Kin - Day 1

Didn’t sleep too badly last night but still restless. Coughed a little less after discovering some cough medicine in the bathroom cabinet and downing a couple of spoons.

Woke just after 8 and headed for a shower -,we’re going to be off grid over the weekend so wanted to enjoy a hot shower whilst I could. LFT done before breakfast, negative result to be shown in entry to the festival.

Stopped at the supermarket (again!) for shampoo (on the off chance I manage to get my hair washed this weekend) and we were off to Ushaw. Arrived at 12 and straight in. The field has some flats bits but it’s mostly quite undulating. We set up under some trees and are only slightly sloping downhill.

Bands today were Creedence Clearwater revived, Hector Gannet, Geordie, Little Moscow, Atomic Rooster and Big Country. Didn’t manage to stay to see Big Country but we heard most of their set from the comfort of the van. So King from Hairy Bikers is the percussionist with Little Moscow and I caught him before he came on stage looking pensive.

Bar prices are a little steep but that’s the price you pay!

Typing this up at 2.30am on Saturday morning as I listen to the hard core party animals along the row. Luckily we have ear plugs.
