Redecorating Holmwood House

Today we visited a National Trust for Scotland property in Glasgow. Holmwood House designed by Alexander "Greek" Thomson.

A great deal of highly skilled work has gone into restoring the applied decoration in the house. Most of it had been covered in "beige" paint by a Religious Order of Nuns.

And now it is restored to the original finish as Greek Thomson delivered it to his client.

I took many photos. The Blipfoto shows a humorous shadow more appropriate to Halloween.

The circular ceiling is that of the bay window shown in the exterior extra.

The detail of the red wall is a part of the dining room which is shown the fourth extra.

It was a delight to walk through the house and chat to the volunteers about the work.

It was also good to enjoy the lemon drizzle cake with poppy seeds in the tearoom.

Of course face masks and all other COVID measures are in place. This makes safety sense for everyone.
