Wilfred Owen

This bronze statue in Cae Glas Park, Oswestry is of Wilfred Owen  (one of the greatest WW1 poets).  He was born in the town and died just seven days before the Armistice.  I went to the unveiling of this statue in 2018 to mark the centenary of his death. It seemed an appropriate entry for Armistice Day.

Today is also the anniversary of the death of my Uncle George who was killed when his Lancaster crashed on landing at his base in Lincolnshire after ops in Germany.  My mother never recovered from the death of her beloved brother.
