Armistice Day

Today's Abstract Thursday theme, set by our regular host Ingeborg, is 'getting closer'.  This morning, after observing the silence to mark Armistice Day at 11am, we drove to Loughton to have a look at the beautifully decorated sycamore tree which is on the green shared by a war memorial.  My abstract is the closer bit where I photographed the beautifully crafted crochet and knitted poppies which adorn the trunk of the tree.  Obviously I've edited the result a bit in PS Elements!  My extra shows the beautiful tree, almost in its entirety.
Last year, when life was far from normal, there was a brief ceremony on the 11th itself, as Remembrance Sunday events were cancelled, but they will take place this year on the coming Sunday.
In other news: today is the day that care home workers will have to be dismissed if they are not now fully vaccinated.  Unvaccinated care home workers are moving to work in  the NHS, which has been given a vaccine 'reprieve' until April 2022.
