Starting

Early trip down to town for a haircut, with grey skies but luckily not the threatened rain. On the way past Princes St gardens I saw all the activity as the Christmas market and Ferris wheel etc were being installed. I thought they were usually set up by now but actually can’t remember given it was all cancelled last year.
Meetings all morning, and welcomed back a colleague from maternity leave (who’d never been in the building or met anyone in person since she started the job after lockdown last year), then headed over to one of our regular set piece meetings in person. Very odd to think I only have 5 more of these to do….
Back to the office to catch up on emails etc and try and retain someone who’s been offered a post elsewhere (didn’t manage to). Had a call from Mt&H….they’d just had parents’ evening for AR and were having celebratory pizza as her teacher was so pleased with her and said she was a model pupil. She was bursting with pride (extra) and very pleased with herself. Mx was keen to muscle in on the chat too and tell me about going to the park earlier. She also told me she was ‘Cat 1’ in the upcoming nativity play….she preferred that to ‘pig’, ‘frog’ or ‘shepherd’ although seemed to think all the characters were as likely to have been in the stable as each other! Love Actually’s lobster and octopus nativity characters came to mind!
