Top o' the Knob

That's what the locals call this area lying at the confluence of Leicester Road, Kirkhill, and Forest Street in Shepshed. An artwork has graced the ground for several years grumbled at by some who consider it a waste of taxpayers' money. The gaily coloured framework celebrates local wildlife and was designed in collaboration with local children.

However, for the last week it has also hosted this 'Christmas tree' display designed by Shepshed Litter Pickers, who have done a sterling job this year cleaning up roadsides and verges on the approach roads to Shepshed. The decorations are examples of what they have retrieved. See extras. They've documented far worse than this.

On the final leg of our walk this afternoon, I realised that it was the weekend for judging the Rotary Club Best Dressed Christmas Display. I missed that then. It was the groups of people who came to see this that alerted me. It has to be a strong contender for a  prize. Coda: it won first prize.

A very grey day, temperatures in single figures. At least Basil and I got out.
