Provost Garden

Years ago, there used to be a small 1960s-built house at the edge of this garden. It's hard to imagine how it fit exactly, but it did, because I remember going to it. It belonged to the Provost of Derwent College, Ron Weir, who invited me - along with lots of others - for a buffet dinner at his house, as new students in the college.

Ron Weir died in 2009 I believe, and the house is long gone. This is its garden though, and a sign at the entrance names it 'Provost Garden'. It's looked after by a University community group who tend to the vegetable beds and fruit trees. A little piece of the past at the University of York.
