Mist & Mizzle

Slightly warmer & less grey than yesterday, definitely less rain, so we went over to Brandon for a walk in the forest. We go there quite often - somewhere different would have been preferable in some ways today, but we know the tracks well so we can vary our routes and the big plus point is that Thetford Forest's on sand, the tracks are relatively mud-free, so we don't have to wrestle with a muddy Welsh springer who has an aversion to having his legs sprayed (gently) with water (warm) once we get home.

The photo was taken fairly early in the walk, across a section of the forest which has been fenced off and is being restored to Breckland heath (with just a few isolated pines & birches) by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust. I've Blipped the heather back in August. There were cattle - Highland, and also what I believe are Belted Galloways - grazing, but too far away to be included in any shot. Anyway, this shows the heath as it appeared in the mist today. As we walked into the forest the mist turned to mizzle - there were interesting patches of colour with the dead bracken & leaves against the greens of the conifers & mosses, but I kept the camera tucked away to keep dry.
