Suspected escapee duck from someone's collection that's been about the Inverness Campus lochans for a few weeks. Beautiful green iridescence to its plumage, that may initially appear black from a distance. A little Internet research suggest it's possibly one of a couple of types - Cayuga, or Black East Indian Duck.

It was hard to catch a photo of it in the dim light at lunchtime, as it kept moving about. Seemed slightly smaller than the Mallard, but had no bother chasing them off when there was any food about. Quite tame, and came close by.
