Grand opening

This is the preschool at Musilo Kadambo today at the official opening of their preschool. It took a while but it is finally in place.
Mary and myself were the guests of honour and given the soft seats, which was more than a little embarrassing for me.
Our commitment to communities starting preschools is to train local women and then up-skill them with regular monthly visits from our trainers. The up-take at 29 schools has been exceptional and the levels achieved by local women, without much formal education has been spectacular. We were two delighted participants there today.
As you see they had a covered in zone so that we wouldn't get burned and chairs from every house around There were twelve village headmen (including two women!!), four group-village headmen and the local chief. Then there was the committee, the caregivers, the porridge ladies, the parents of over 40 little ones and almost everyone else for miles, and of course some W4Z staff, ourselves and volunteers.
Now that it's open they have 3 Adult Education teachers and 37 men and women students form 16 to 60. This is our new commitment to them and another piece of our development strategy.
I also spoke to a farmers group about helping with our Conservation Farming project which we have on the go for the past 2 years and in which the Ministry are just now seriously interested now that they have a dangerously poor maize crop and no money for artificial fertilizer.
Anyhow this was a great day for GVH Kadambo and his progressive people, who will now be the moden for many others.
