The trouble with lichen

My trouble with lichen was trying to snap it on avery windyand freezing cold day - the branch just didn't want to stay still, so I couldn't get as clear an image as I'd have liked. This common orange lichen was rather cheerful though,I thought, and just about the only colour I saw in the forest today!

Trouble with Lichen was of course one of John Wyndham's sci-fi novels, written in 1960. I loved his books and read all of them!
