After All These Years

Bitterly cold in spite of bright sunshine, even so I was glad to get outside for a while. An old log, pitted and studded, like stucco work in a Moorish castle, caught in the rays of the late afternoon sun. I spent a while photographing its length, exploring the knots and grain that made up the joints and junctures.

It glowed, which I enhanced by underexposing, throwing the shadows into darkness. Faces of little gargoyles pop out as I explore the detail.

Eventually, cold fingers got the better of me.
