Nicky and her Nikon

The River Mole

This morning I met with a group of my friends for breakfast at The Ivy. We are a group of friends who have known each other for about 20 years, and we still meet up a couple of times a year. Today was a different sort of meeting as in the weeks before Christmas one of the group lost her husband and another lost her son, so today was not a joyous occasion. Very difficult for both of them and it was good to see them and to find out how they are coping.

The river runs along the road right near the restaurant so before breakfast I took a short walk down to the river to get this photograph. This week has been dull and grey every day - but at least it is dry. Last winter was so wet, this winter is just grey....

I spent the rest of the day sorting out my images for the next couple of print competitions, and then uploaded them to get printed. I print so seldom that it is not worth having my own printer. I also got some family images printed for frames at home.

Tonight it is book club which is being hosted by a member who is Scottish, and she always hosts at this time of year as she serves the most amazing Burns Night supper for us. Last year we missed it due to the Covid lockdown. I am looking forward to the evening , although I cannot drink any alcohol due to the face cream I have been prescribed for the treatment of my eczema.

It has been quite a social day, good that it all happened this week as I have decided to semi-isolate in the week leading up to my Iceland trip as I don't want to risk getting Covid just before I go.
