The Edge of the Wold

A good view from ear

Here's Gus on our morning walk over the Knott, looking down across Arnside and the Kent Channel. Of course, he wasn't really admiring the view. He had his sharp eye on a dog being walked in the field below us.

It was surely the warmest day of the year so far, people were in T shirts - albeit with lily white arms exposed. It was a day for catching up with old friends. Tim and Jeanne were up from Somerset staying with Simon & Jean, and we had lunch in the Eagle & Child in Staveley. They are such good company.

Then it was home to see Pam and Bern, who we didn't see at all in 2012. Time melts away, there is so much to catch up on, and so many diversions for conversation to happily flow into. Such lovely people.

And this morning I caught up with my Dad, who had another eye operation on Weds. He's as stoic as ever, he won't be allowed to drive for a while (no bad thing), but otherwise he's going strong.

Happy day.
