Birthday Flowers

These are the beautiful flowers that B bought me for my birthday, such pretty colours, they are alstroemeria I believe. 

I've had a relaxing day indoors today following a visit to a favourite restaurant yesterday and a rather late night.  The five course taster menu was superb and it was lovely to receive such a warm welcome from the owners who even gave me a birthday card.

As part of our relaxing day we watched the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics from Beijing. The various sporting events will be a welcome distraction from world events.  I just hope that the spirit of generosity and goodwill that it was promoting is evident...we really need it just now.
