Days gone by

Today I was in the neighborhood of an old friend. He had a young daughter who's her mother had left them after the child's birth. He raised her even though he was in early 20's when it happened. He passed away when the girl was about 13. I walked by his old home place, all grown up, no sign of life. Weeds and vines had taken over. Her swing set was strangled by the vines. Trash everywhere. Looks like it has turned into a party place for young people. I walked around the yard and spotted some daffodils and iris pushing up through the leaves. I found a piece of broken metal and dug up a small clump. I know Bob would not mind. I'm going to give them a spot in my memory garden.
RIP my friend.
