Life's Little Moments

Shades of Gray

This female white breasted nuthatch posed quickly for me today on a perfect perch - that doesn't happen often with these flitty little birds.  The male was nearby - I could hear him tooting at her.  Although at a quick glance, both sexes look the same, the females actually have a lighter gray cap than the males, whose cap appears almost black.  Just a bit of bird trivia for you.

Hubs wore Jax out while I slept late (bliss).  When they were out this morning, Hubs looked up and saw a 10 point buck (with antlers still - in March!) not 20 feet from them.  A stare down ensued while all sorts of bad outcomes played through Hubs mind, and heaven only knows what played through the dog's mind.  Anyway, the buck finally ran and Jax was ready to give chase - thank goodness for a leash and some quick thinking.  Anyway, it was his first major wildlife experience.

I've been working on the macbook for a few hours - getting it set up the way I want and getting it as ready as possible for the Great File Transfer from the PC.  Yikes.

We are heading off now for a trip to Starbucks (with a Puppachino for the dog) and then a trip to the pet store.  Nice, relaxed day.

Dark with ginger.
