The new hide

A lovely sunny day and F wanted to see the hide at the new reserve at Queen's Head which has been built to take some of the wildlife from the canal.

The entrance has what I thought was earth and stones but F said that it's actually made of concrete.  Tree branches are attached to it looking like tree roots so it's like going in an underground den.

We peeped through the crack around the entrance (it's not open yet and is boarded up) and the interior walls are painted with pictures of fish.  It's going to be a great asset to the canal reserve.

There were very few birds around but we did see a little egret in a tree sitting in the sun and preening.  It's the first time that I've seen one in that area.
