A Short Vacation

We left around midday for a long weekend at the Oregon Coast - Newport, OR to be exact. We're staying at a lovely hotel right on Agate Beach (https://www.oceanhouse.com). The fascinating bit is that my husband's grandparents owned the original house and property ages ago, until he was about 10. He remembers coming here a couple of times a year and playing on the beach and lighting fireworks on the 4th of July. But the grandparents moved on eventually and the house was sold. Now it's been dramatically improved and upgraded and expanded, but the main house still looks much the same.

After we arrived we went down to the beach (and it is down...quite a steep walkway/hill/stairs) and looked for agates, which of course the beach is named after. We weren't really sure exactly what we were looking for, but picked up a couple of handfuls of cool looking rocks that were certainly more than JUST rocks ;-)

It's a joy to escape, be someplace different, and to rest with the beauty of the ocean close by. Happy Weekend!
