Ginger

It was lovely to see the grey mare and her foal of last year in the Donkey Field this morning. They've been spending a lot of time shut in the barn. The foal is growing into its strawberry roan coat, which looked a bit strange when she was first born, and her once spiky mane is now beautifully flowing ginger. I love her dark eye-liner.

I spent a long time this afternoon looking for a St. Mark's fly to post as it is St. Mark's Day. Annoyingly I was unsuccessful as I've seen and photographed a few of these black shiny flies with the dangly legs recently. I did find a solitary bee with a ginger thorax. I think it's an orange-tailed mining bee.
