Nesting Ospreys

Two disturbed Ospreys sitting on their nest. They have not been disturbed by me but rather a local Buzzard who is floating around giving them an envious eye as they tuck into a fresh fish breakfast.

This morning is my first Waterways Breeding Bird survey for the British Trust for Ornithology. Aside from an early start (which is really not my thing), it has been a lovely way to spend a couple of hours before breakfast. A slightly damp dawn chorus with a healthy list of birds in and around the river, plus some deer and otters playing on the island at the Aigas power station (see extra).
