On the way

It's been a cloudy day, little rain, but not very cold. In the blip, still near home, we were going to an exposition.

Along this street is the Olympic Village designed for the 1940 Olympics in Finland. The area gets its name from the fact that it was built to accommodate athletes participating in the Helsinki Summer Olympics. However, the Olympics were canceled in the turmoil of World War II, and the apartments became homes for the townspeople.

When the war was over, it was decided to hold the new 1952 Olympics in Helsinki. A new residential area was built again for this event, mostly along this street. It was called "Kisakylä" in Finnish meaning something like a contest village.
