The Color and Shape of Water

We're in the midst of a run of gorgeous June weather, which is to say, those perfect summer days you may remember from childhood. It's a very nice temperature out, it's sunny, it's breezy. What's not to like?

My husband and I headed over to Whipple Dam for our first swim there, and of course, as soon as I was in the water, I was wishing for my camera. The blues and whites of the reflected sky were just gorgeous, swirling on the surface, like an oil painting.

When we were finally out of the water and walking back to our car, I seized a moment to take a picture of the shining water surface. Just one shot! I supersaturated it and bumped up the darkness and definition, and here's what I ended up with: please enjoy this glimpse of the color and shape of water.

I wanted a summer song to go with this, and here's one that always takes me right back to the summer of 1983, which was apparently quite a good year for me: the Motels, with Suddenly, Last Summer.
