We had a good journey this afternoon arriving in Carlisle by lunchtime. We didn't go straight to the hotel, but chose instead to drive to Bowness-on-Solway to the RSPB reserve, where we spent a couple of hours walking, birdwatching and wildflower identifying.

After arriving at the hotel we got ourselves sorted out, googled where the nearest Weatherspoons was and walked 1.5 miles into Carlisle city centre for food.

The hotel seems nice, let's see what breakfast is like!
