Feoffees Hall

Feoffee is pronounced either feh-FEE or fee-FEE (/fɛˈfiː, fiːˈfiː/ in IPA, which probably won’t show properly if you’re using the iOS app); it doesn’t rhyme with coffee, toffee or banoffee, which I think is disappointing; nor does it rhyme with Geoffrey.

If you don’t know what a feoffee is, look up feoffee on Wikipedia: it’s too complicated to even begin to explain.

This building used to house the Sally Bash, but they upped sticks some time ago. The building was bought by someone else, but nothing obvious happened with it till this week. I saw a light on inside yesterday evening and the new sign this afternoon.

Why we need a hall for feoffees I don’t know.
