La vida de Annie

En el zoológico.

This afternoon we went to the Lloc de Menorca, a family run zoo for rescued and endangered animals, set in wonderful grounds with safe, natural environmental compounds rather than the cages associated with zoos. The farm even has its own naveta, which was too scary to venture into, although #1D has in the past; basically a mass tomb from prehistoric times. There is some new wonderful mosaic work since my last visit - a whole wall featuring many of the animals, a huge mosiac amphora, and a mosaic covered rustic table in a picnic area. They got to "milk" a realistic model cow, enjoy the antics of the cute prairie dogs, get close to families of lemurs, giant tortoises and wallabies, many exotic birds housed in a replica Inca temple, and even some guinea pigs (they have two at home), and also feed the baby goats. There is a sign in their enclosure warning that goats will attempt to eat your clothing; #1D didn't read that and found a persistent (not human) kid nibbling her shorts. It was incredibly hot today and #1GS had a bit of a wobble with mild sunstroke, but was rehydrated in the cafe and the splash park with no ill effects. It will be a reminder to him to drink plenty of water in hot weather next time.
