Pladda

After our early start and late night yesterday, we were all rather late and slow this morning.  Our friends are all staying in a different part of the hotel, which means we had breakfast on our own.  We weren’t on our own of course, hut we weren’t with our group.  It was a really lovely spread and I am already looking forward to tomorrow’s breakfast.  There was another whisky tasting today, at the other distillery.  We three drove round the south of the island.  It was very dull and grey.  We stopped in Lamlash, parked up and had a wee wander, before continuing on our way to lag Distillery where we met up with everyone again.  A lovely new building with fantastic views.

We had booked lunch and they had requested that we pre-order from a reduced (soup and sandwich ) menu – which we had done.  Even though we had done all this, lunch was a complete and utter shambles.  They kept bringing out things we hadn’t ordered, and even when they did get it right, we were not impressed.  We let them know and we did get a reduction to the bill.  They then told us they had brought us the food from another big order.  We were the only group of any size there.  Hopefully things will improve in the kitchen.  We had a look around then BB and I departed, leaving them all to their whisky.  We continued driving round, stopping at the car park for Machrie Standing Stones.  BB pulled on his new walking boots and gave them a try out on the very easy walk to the stones.  Although it was very overcast, it was quite clear and the views were clear, but grey.

We then drove back to the hotel.  BB could hardly keep his eyes open, so I left him to snooze, and headed out for a wander along the Fisherman’s Walk.  It was sheltered and didn’t feel too chilly.  I made it to the cheese shop just before it closed and managed to make a purchase.  I didn’t make it to Arran Aromatics in time.  I then walked back home and found BB snooszing on my bed.  TT appeared back from his tasting and we all got ready for dinner.

We had a lovely meal and another lovely evening, but BB and I took our leave early.  TT wasn’t all that far behind us.

This is Pladda – a small island off Arran.  It was for sale recently.  The ferry comes and goes.  It was coming over to the island when I was out this afternoon.
