Everyone Else Was Amused

Carnival Day in Ilkley today and the sun came out to make a carnival experience too.

Having given out coffee and tea and juice to the assembled hoards at the crossroad I really enjoyed the carnival parade, this year with a British Theme, this was variously interpreted by local schools and organisations.

We had Scotland the Brave piping out, preparations for Le Grand Tour in 2014 past this spot, a Yellow Submarine, punk rockers - a nostalgia trip for drmackem , HMS victory the guides and scouts looking a bit piratical if you ask me, a Pearly Queen, a Jowett? , and something I've been dreaming about for some time (and I'm not referring the orange hair or psycodelic shirt).

But Jessica a friend and local head teacher managed to be the only person in the whole of town not smiling is my blip today as Queen Victoria - looking "not amused", I don't know how she kept it up.
