From Baptisms To Nicodemus

It was a beautiful morning at FBC, both outside and inside!  We've had some good rain this week, but today the sun was shining brightly in the beautiful blue sky and the temperature was moderate.  Inside, the fellowship was warm, as well.  We began our service with congregational praise to help us join our hearts and focus our attention on thanking God for all the ways He has blessed us.  Then, we  got to witness two baptisms, which is always a joy and a blessing. One of the other ways our church is blessed is through our music ministry which includes our choir, praise band, orchestra and our talented accompanists.  This morning they presented a an uplifting version of "Hold On To The Rock" with Brian handling the solo parts.  We were expecting to return to the book of James, but Pastor Wes took us to the book of John, Chapter 3, instead, and talked to us about the account of Nicodemus and his visit to Jesus in which Jesus is very clear about the need to be born again in order to enter the kingdom of God.  As a Pharisee, Nicodemus thought that if he followed all the religious laws, that would get him in, but Jesus told him that was wrong, that he needed to be born again.  Nicodemus wanted to know how this second birth could happen and Jesus laid it all out for him in terms he could understand.  He told Nicodemus that he had all the knowledge about the truth, but he had refused to understand and apply it correctly.  Pastor Wes has much more to say about this need for a new spiritual birth and how it can transform our lives in the Live-stream.  It would be well worth your time to watch it......
