Hen Harrier

I went along to Loch of Banks because there has been a bittern there for a couple of days but no luck. They are very reclusive and stay very much in cover. Still, quite a lot of birds. This hen harrier is a juvenile, I think, because it had orangey underparts, which separates it from the adult female. The male is a beautiful grey with black primaries. A peregrine caused panic in the dozens of wigeon, mallard, teal, pintail and snipe, while a sparrowhawk was ignored. Also about- greylag geese, lapwings, golden plover, ravens, hooded crows. Some wintry showers and nice clouds, see extra.
