The Best Laid Plans

o’ mice and men Gang aft alley…

Our plans had been to visit Pat2 to celebrate another birthday. Pat had prepared all of the food which require the final touches at Pat 2’s home in Stirling.

Herr Doktor had also been invited.

We set off to drive to Stirling and ten miles before our destination traffic came to a halt. We remained stationary for over two hours.

Both lanes had to separate to allow Police Patrols to drive through, followed by two ambulances. Thereafter a fire engine drove through to be followed  by three breakdown trucks.

There had been a collision about five miles ahead of us, according to Traffic Scotland.

The queue was stationary for about two hours as the rescue services carried out their very important work.

The temperature was about -5C and I kept the car engine running to keep us warm as most cars did.

Eventually the traffic started to move very slowly and after some nine miles we passed the location of the accident.

We had been inconvenienced but somewhere in Stirling people were being attended to for injuries which could have been severe judging by the damaged vehicles.

We arrived at Pat2’s house and we celebrated her birthday.
After the celebrations I warmed up the car and we drove home through very cold roads. The lowest temperature was -11C.

We arrived home early the next morning and retired for the rest of the night.

Our return journey was incident free.

And today’s Blipfoto? I took it first thing in the morning. It is a volunteer beech tree/shrub with two trunks.

It looked very cheerful and full of colour. It was the only photograph I took today.
