Sunrise over the Tyne Valley

I don't always remember to pick up my camera when I head off for my morning walk so sometimes when I spot something blipworthy I have to just use my phone. But I'm glad I took my "proper" camera today. My route took me close to the edge of the Rising Sun Country Park; I'd not intended to go in and climb up the old slag heap beautifully landscaped hill, but when I saw the way the sky was developing I diverted there and was glad I'd done so - the early morning light over the valley was rather lovely.

When there's a bit more snow, the track leading away down the left third of the photo is good for sledging: it was a common pastime when the kids were small but it's several years since we've indulged ourselves.
