American Coot

I often struggle to find interesting subjects for my Blip journal during the winter months, but I am off to a good start for this new year. Today I noticed an unusual bird walking among the ducks while visiting the river flock at my local park. It turned out to be an American Coot (Fulica americana), a species I have never seen before. I managed to snap a couple of pictures before he wandered too far away.
