Joseph, Jesus Is On Your OTHER Left!

It was a marvelously foggy, drippy morning, and I set off in a different direction on my walk. I usually go out to the end of our driveway and turn right. On this day, I turned left, and went down the hill, and over and around through the developments. Quite happily for me, there were things there to see that I had not seen yet!

With the recent mild weather, many people have already taken their Christmas decorations down. So we are devoid of many of the pretty lights and exhibits that I love to see around the holidays. But at this particular house, the decorations were still up.

I noticed immediately that Joseph seemed to be looking in the completely wrong direction. The Babe is in arms on your OTHER side, Joseph. I know this new father thing can be pretty distracting, and even more so, considering who that child is. But let's get it right; Joseph needs to be standing on the OTHER side of Mary!

Also, since I have extra photos again, I'm including one of those to show you the wonderful fog. There are two really pretty mailboxes in a row on that hill, and I liked the way the posterized filter gave my fog a sort of weird, greenish, glowy tint.

The end result looked a bit spooky, I thought. And this is one of the things I love as a photographer: looking to see what IS a thing in and of itself, what is its essence, what is it capable of becoming, and how do you make it so? Like magic! This is the way I see it, so here it is!

Now, since I have two pictures, let's let me have two songs. The one above, of poor Joseph looking in the wrong direction, gets this Johnny Cash favorite: The One on the Right is On the Left.

For the other picture, I want something old/something new, so here are Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus from New Year's Eve, with Wrecking Ball/I Will Always Love You. No, alas, I fell asleep at 10:30 on New Year's Eve and missed the whole show, but you can find MANY good clips from it on YouTube. Let me fangirl just a tiny bit here: I love that charming moment at about 2:45 when Dolly first says "I will always love you" and the crowd roars! Dolly, we love YOU! My goodness, isn't it grand to live in a world with Dolly Parton in it!?!???
