Hoar frost

This was the scene that greeted me this morning as I went out to defrost the car for our visit to our friends in Waltham Abbey.

It was beautiful and so ephemeral as the other side of the car had already thawed in the sunshine. By the time we’d reached Tesco, a couple of miles away this had disappeared too.

A lovely day of eating and drinking (well, not the driver) as is the tradition on these visits. The evening meal was a superb Indian dish of roast leg of lamb with all the accompaniments followed by home made kulfi ice cream

To work up an appetite for dinner we visited the Clocktower Nursery to choose some seed potatoes for the spring. We bought Ulster Prince and Colleen, both early potatoes.

I was inspired by Susan to buy a gooseberry, tayberry and some raspberry canes too. I need new strawberry plants too having had no runners last year to pot on. A leap of faith that Project A to move us from our allotments will not happen and that it’s worth investing in some new plants.

Thanks to Ingeborg for hosting Abstract Thursday.
