a lifetime burning

Creeping Upwards

That's the temperature creeping upwards, as well as this tree creeper.  I'm rather pleased with the shot of the bird.  I followed it from tree to tree in the hope of getting a shot at a reasonable angle (where I was about the same height as the bird).  These little chaps spiral up around the tree in little jerky movements and they're hard to see (and photograph) unless you can catch them like this, at the edge of the tree.  When you then take into account all the branches and neighbouring trees and bushes it's not as easy as it sounds.

The ice on the pond has started to melt, and while it's still chilly there's definitely a break in the freeze that we've had for the last week.  It's notable that I feel the need to comment on a week of sub zero temperatures in January.  Once upon a time it would have been quite normal, but not so much in recent years.
